Sarah Rutten – Cert IV Canine Behavioural Trainer – Paw Power Dog Training, Ballina
Sarah’s passion for animals started from a very early age, enjoying the company of some much loved family pets while growing up and into her teenage years. After completing high school in Lismore and spending a couple of years in the workforce, Sarah decided to take the plunge and pursue her passion by completing the Delta Society Australia’s Certificate IV in Dog Behavioural Training. In 2003, together with Anna Tasker, Paw Power Dog Training was born and is now the largest positive dog training group on the Far North Coast.

In 2008 Sarah completed a certificate in Canine Myofunctional Therapy and is a qualified Canine Massage Therapist. She is currently studying a Diploma in Dog Training and Behaviour Consulting through the Companion Animal Sciences Institute in Canada.

Sarah currently lives in East Ballina with her partner, Chris and their two pugs Tyson (11 yrs) & Maxi (13 yrs). As well as running classes and private consults she also loves reading, music and hanging out with friends – both human and canine!

Tyson – Office Manager – Paw Power Dog Training, Ballina

Tyson (also known as “Munchkin”, “Boof-A-Knuckle” and “Mr Magoo”) is a 11 year old black pug who keeps a close eye on Sarah’s every movement. Nothing gets past this fella! Often found sleeping with his eyes open (!!), Tyson ensures that even when resting, one can still be managing the workers. Tyson’s favourite past times include snuggling, snoozing and sniffing….everything! (all done outside office hours – of course).

Maxi – Security – Paw Power Dog Training, Ballina
Maxi (also known as “Cheeky Chicken”, “Chooky Dook” & “Fat Rat”) is an 13 year old fawn pug whose main goal in life is to “bulk up”. Known to steal food off unsuspecting visitor’s plates, she is a master of stealth and precision. Her feminine pug-like bark is truly frightening to anyone who comes to the door – making her perfect for the role of “security” (that is if she can be bothered to get up off her bed!!). Maxi’s favourite past times involve foraging for food in all sorts of locations, dinner time and anything that involves lying under a fan or in front of a heater depending on the time of year.
